The Clarity Remote Calibration Process

We are committed to transparency and scientific integrity, and recognize that air quality data performance specifications should reflect real-world conditions rather than idealized scenarios — that's why all of our performance results are for long-term collocations, rather than selectively showcasing only the best outcomes for short-term collocations, as is often the case in our industry.

Calibration is included free of charge as part of Clarity's Sensing-as-a-Service offering — we calibrate all air quality sensor data on behalf of our customers. After Onboarding, Clarity customers have the option to choose between pre-calibration using the Global Calibrations or Collocation-Based Collocation, as illustrated by the graphic below.

What is the difference between Global & Collocation-Based Calibration?

Pre-Calibration with Global Calibration

All Clarity Nodes come equipped with preset standard calibrations — the Global Calibrations — for both PM2.5 and NO2 measurements. This ensures that calibrated data are available even for organizations without access to a reference monitor or that choose not to perform collocation-based calibration.

While pre-calibration with Global Calibration significantly improves data performance, we highly recommend Collocation-Based Calibration for any air quality sensor network.
